My Hopes for This Semester
As I begin this course, I’m thinking a lot about the difference between "doing" ministry and "being" with God. Between my studies at Wesley Seminary, my work as a counselor, and leading our home church, life is very full. It’s easy to focus on helping others grow while neglecting my own soul. This semester, I’m expecting God to help me prioritize my inner life so I can lead from a place of health rather than exhaustion.
Learning to Lead from Within
Reading Peter Scazzero’s The Emotionally Healthy Leader has already challenged me. He emphasizes that our leadership is only as strong as our life "under the surface." In a ministry focused on deep discipleship and multiplying home churches, I realize I can’t give away what I don't truly have. I’m expecting God to help me slow down and ensure my "inner life" with Him is the foundation for everything else. I want to make sure I’m not just managing a network of leaders, but truly abiding in Christ alongside them.
The Need for Real Accountability
Because our church model is so personal (sharing meals and lives in a home), accountability is vital. However, it’s often easier for me to be the one providing support than the one receiving it. I hope this class helps me create better habits for my own moral and spiritual health. I’m looking forward to learning how to set goals that aren't just about "success," but about staying faithful to Christ over the long haul.

To make the most of this semester, I am making these commitments:
To God: I will protect my time for prayer and rest, refusing to let busyness become an excuse.
To My Classmates: I will be open and honest about my journey, offering a safe space for others to do the same.
To Myself: I will practice what I preach by setting boundaries that keep my soul healthy.
I’m excited to see how God uses this time to shape me into a more healthy, Christlike leader for my family and my church.
