I started out this semester with a lot of anxiety and not as confident in my abilities. Now, coming to the close of the first semester in Seminary, I am already feeling more confident in myself, I have grown in my relationship with the Lord, and I have already learned so much! I am so excited to see what’s to come.
Specifically, in the SPIR class I enjoyed learning about my spiritual temperaments with my top being Caregiver, Enthusiast and Contemplative, and Solitude. I really appreciated how we discussed in Module 5, in the Devotional Classics book, when Hannah posed the question "what can be done when our work for God has lost its joy?" I think this is such an important thing to talk about now, so that we are better prepared later down the road. A quote that really spoke to me in this time together was in Module 6 “We are confronted by difficult thoughts on formation, the reality of how God interacts with us, and his longing for us to relate with him. Some Christians tend to lapse into a practical "atheism," believing in God but not expecting him to move in supernatural ways. In the Pathways Book, we find a quote from Thomas Merton: God does not manifest Himself to those who do not seek Him with any real desire.” May we genuinely seek him in all that we do!
As I continue through this journey, my number one goal is to keep God as the center of my life. I commit to Him and myself to trust in Him, and follow the plans that he has for my life. Perhaps I was created for such a time as this! (Esther 4:14)
